Philip I Philadelphus Reign, 94-83 or 75 B.C.

AR Tetradrachm circa 88-75 B.C.

Antioch on the Orontes. (modern-day Antakya, Turkey.)

Diademed head to right / Zeus Nikephoros seated to left on throne, holding sceptre; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟY to right, ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟYΣ ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟY to right, ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟYΣ ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΟY to left, N above A in outer left field, monogram under throne.

Translation of obverse Greek legend: Glorious king Philip, friend of his brother.

Silver, 15.79g, 27mm.

Grade: Near Extremely Fine, area of flatness. Fantastic eye appeal, excellent colour, original high grade ancient coin.
