Description

Roman Imperial Coinage.

Philip II, A.D. (247-249), as Caesar.

The son of Philip I, he was given the title of Caesar on the accession of his father.

AR Antoninianus, Rome, S.D. 244-247.

Obverse: Radiate and cuirassed bust right.

Legend: M I VL PHILIPPVS CAES

Reverse: Philip Ii as Princeps luventutis standing left holding a globe in his right hand and reversed spear in his left. 

Reverse legend: PRINCIPI IVENT

Reference: RIC 220.

Silver, 3.90g, 22mm.

Grade: Lustrous and EF. Rare find this nice.
