King George II Reign, 1727-1760.

1745 Shilling, LIMA.

Struck fron Spanish silver seized at Lima, Peru.

A fascinating piece for anyone interested in Naval History as well as numismatics.

Obverse: Older laureate and draped bust of King George II left.

Engraver: John Tanner.

Legend: GEORGIVS·II· DEI·GRATIA· LIMA. (George the Second by the Grace of God.)

Reverse: Crowned cruciform shields with central Garter star, divided date above.

Engraver: Johann Ochs.

Reverse: M·B·F·ET H·REX· F·D·B ET·L·D·S·R·I A·T·ET·E 17 58· (ng of Great Britain France and Ireland Defender of the Faith Duke of Brunswick and Lueneburg Arch Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire.

Edge: Slant-reeded right.
