Follis, Trier mint. A.D. 298-299.

Trier, founded by the Romans in the late last century BC as Augusta Treverorum ("The City of Augustus among the Treven"), considered Germany's oldest city.

Obverse: Laureate and cuirassed bust right.

Legend: MAXIMIANVS NOB CAES.

Reverse: Genius standing left, medius on head, naked but for chlamys over left shoulder; right hand holding patio, cornucopiae in left hand.

Legend: GENIO POPVLOROMANI.

B in left field, star in right, TR in exergue.

Bronze, 25-27mm, 8.78g.
