Obverse shows the main Exhibition building 'The Palace of Industries' erected in the Domain.
The Auckland Industrial, Agricultural and Mining Exhibition opened on 1st December 1913, attendance on the first day was reported to be 18,000, and the exhibition ran until 18th April 1914
There was a concert hall and entertainments included toboggans, water Shute and a figure 8 railway.
