Obverse: First uncrowned portrait of Queen Victoria with her hair tied in a bun.

Engraver: William Wyon.

Legend: VICTORIA DEI GRATIA 1853. (Victoria by the Grace of God).

Reverse: Seated figure of Britannia right, with trident in left hand and shield bearing the Union flag in right, legend around and national flower emblems in exergue.

Legend: BRITANNIAR: REG: FID: DEF: (Queen of the Britains Defender of the Faith).
