The obverse of the coin features the portrait of King George V, as was standard for Australian coinage during this period.

The inscription around the portrait reads "GEORGE V KING AND EMPEROR" and "AUSTRALIA".

The reverse depicts a design featuring a representation of the Parliament House in Canberra, surrounded by inscriptions.

The inscription on the reverse reads "AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH", with "FLORIN 1927" at the bottom.
